Desang Ltd designs and sells kitbags for people with diabetes, has proved a real hit with those who have the condition - estimated at 2 million people in the UK today.
Sue Marshall, founder director of Desang Ltd (and creator of kitbags) says, "I've had diabetes since 1972. Like many people, I had a busy life. Like some of them, I had diabetes too, which meant I had to be extra organised. I didn't let having diabetes stand in my way, but as I had to carry around various bits and bobs to control it, I wanted something practical but professional to house it all in."
The kitbags keep everything in one place, making living with the condition just that little bit easier. They're nice-looking too! Made of leather and resembling a Filofax, they fit the best-selling blood test meters in the UK along with lancets, calibration strips or liquids and spare sensors, plus spare needles and cartridges for insulin pens. Syringes and insulin bottles also fit in. There are three models of kitbag. 1. Slim is ideal if the person with diabetes only needs to take one type of insulin with them. 2. The Classic has an extra holder for a second insulin injection pen. There's also an additional zipped pocket in the Classic which can be used to store a sugar source, such as a tube of sweets. 3. The Roll-up is the larger model with four separate pockets which can fit in all the usual blood-testing and self-medicating supplies as well as having space for pill holders, medi-swabs and so on.
